Recently replaced the transmission on a 2000 dodge 1500, 2 wheel drive, 5.9 V8 gas powered. Now the idol is of and a large amount of exhaust fumes. Also replaced crank shafts censor, and pick up coil

The tranny replacement and engine problem shouldn't be related. By chance did you mess up the O2 sensors? It's easy to do 'coz they're right there on the exhaust pipe. Check it out and let me know.
