Get the R/T with the 6-speed. Better mufflers (none ;)), better rear-end (limited slip w/ deep gears), and way more fun. Gas mileage will be a teeny bit lower without the MDS, but with that super-tall 6th gear you could loaf around at 1500 RPM on the highway and probably do better than rated. I doubt the extra 50 or so HP of the SRT8 would be worth it either.

the extra horsepower is well worth it the 2009 srt8 is also available with the track pac option and the six speed is so much better than the autostick im the 2008 srt line up i have a 2009 srt 8 challenger six trac pac and also a 2008 magnum srt 8 and the 09 is much faster but i had a srt 10 ram quad cab with upgrades 575hp and the magnum beat it in the 1/4 by 8/10ths

i suggest the R/T because of fuel consumption. SRT i dont believe has the MDS where the R/T does. this will give you 5 mpg or more over the SRT version and it is still plenty fast enough for any street application and you can always put some easy bolt ons to get some more hp and still get good mileage

SRT 8 we buy these cars for performance not to save gas so if you have the money go for the SRT 8 but if its out of your reach get the manual transmission r/t

Rt six speed is the best buy. Can't justify the srt for the money.
