i have a 97 ram 1500 4x4 360 if i go out cold im fine But if i stop for any reaason & shut it off ill pull out & have NO 2nd gear , any answers were is the shif modual located????

There isn't necessarily a "shift module" but regardless of whether you have a 42RE or a 46/47RE almost everything to do with shifting is inside the valve body and somewhere down the road controlled by the PCM.
