I have a 2001 Durango 5.9 R/T, it seems to hunt for gears in 3rd, jumps to o/d then back. I was told it was the PTS so I changed that and now it won't shift into O/D at all.

Asked by Bertie Mar 17, 2014 at 04:38 PM about the Dodge Durango

Question type: General

The timing chain gasket blew causing my Durango to over heat, but not enough to cook
the tranny oil.  I changed gasket and it ran.  The tranny would seem to slip or have a
trouble going into o/d.  I would let off the gas and it would slip into o/d okay. I used it all
winter like that and thought I should change the TPS and maybe it would fix the
hesitation. After I changed it,when I first started it, it revved high then I got engine light.
Now it stalls when I come to an intersection.

Get the codes and take it from there. Could be time for new tranny fluid and filter and, depending on what tranny you have, adjusting the band´s.
