I have a 95 gmc 1500 ran fine until it overheated the gauge was normal reading when I shut it down. next day shuts off when warm,starts up after cooldown runs fine.

First I'd make sure you have a full fill of antifreeze. Then I'd look at the water pump and see if there is ay water coming out of the weep hole on the bottom of the pump. You also may have a clogged radiator, so see it it is flowing correctly. You also may have hoses that have weaken and expands with age, BTW, have the temp sensor checked. If the engine overheated, it should of shown a rise in temp. Do you know if the engine threw out any fluid? If so where was it? Have you removed any leaves, chipmunks and rabbits from the front of the radiator? It needs to be kept clean for proper air flow. And are the fans working? Do they come on via thermostat or computer control when the engine gets hot? Make sure they are working.
