The coolant sensor is a good start as it's information it gives the OBD1 computer information to control the other sensors, Even if your temp. gauge read normal, it still could have ben bad. Next I would check on the Air Idle Control sensor located on the left side of the TBI on the back corner. It has a square plug in on it. I believe Auto Zone can test this, but it gets all gummed up in there and may need to be cleaned by taking out the sensor, cleaning it and the port it came out of. Also when starting cold, have the air cleaner off and look at the 2 injectors in how the spray of gas is coming out. It should be a nice cone shape spray with no droplets of gas. Injectors may be dirty, all you can do is spray clean the outside of them and run a fuel injector cleaner threw the gas, other than replacing them.
