Electrical problems... ignition/dash lights no power

Asked by HighRoller1994 Mar 26, 2017 at 08:11 AM about the Chevrolet Caprice

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 88 caprice brougham and sunk
some cash into it, had it running great after
removing two alarm systems from under
dash and doing a tune up and few other
things, well when I bolted the steering
column back up and went too drive it
somewhere the car would not turn over, it's
not getting power too the ignition or dash
lights. Headlights work and horn blows few
other things work and the wiring harness
seems too be all together correct. Help
please I am at a standstill?

Whats going on brother? Did you every find out what was the problem? My 96 Caprice is doing the same thing...

I have a 79 caprice I just had the column replaced & I just started it. It started running rough so I turned it off & tried to start it again but no go. Lights still come on but no spark. I believe it is the wire that comes from the back of the alternator & goes to the starter. Check that wire from both ends & it may fix the problem.
