Does your exhaust system have a "resonator" near the muffler ? Sounds like the resonator is shot (bad). If it were the muffler or catalytic converter it would happen all the time. Resonators work on a frequency pitch that vehicles don't get to sitting still and just "revving" the engine.

Im pretty sure it doesnt have a resonator on there, but the noise is really loud. To get up to speed you really dont want to give it any gas because it sounds bad.
