he is correct, and just to clarify the d15 is a sohc (single overhead cam) 1.5l, the d16 is a sohc 1.6, the d16z6 is a sohc vtec 1.6. then you get into the b series which are dohc motors. you have a 1.6, 1.7, and a 1.8, most of which come in vtec and non-vtec. after that you get into k series, and j series. the d series motors came in civics and soforth. the b series usally came in the acura integra but you could get one in the civic si i believe it was a 1.6 dohc know as the b16. the k series usually came in the crvs and the j series came in the accords i think im not up on the accords. anything newer than a 2003 i think they started the r series. i hope i was helpful and not to confusing.

its useful to know that not all dseries was sohc. the whole d16ax series was dohc except for the d16a7 the kseries was also used in the dc5 integras (RSX for you yanks :P ) and the type r civics.
