My car will not go into drive or park.

the center piece came out of the end of my shift control cable. If I push it back down on it I can get it to go, but it will slide back off. Can I replace this part that came out of the end of the shift control cable or will I have to replace the cable?

did a chunk come off or was cracked?...if yes, you're going to have to replace it~ if no, you must figure out a way to make it so this does not happen anymore (ie cable-tie in a strategic place)~
