Hissing sound

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 Jeep Laredo is making a hissing sound
coming from the brake pedal. When brake pedal is
pushed hissing stops and engine idles at less than
normal. Patient continues with car started with no
pressing on the brake and even with the e brake off
engine in park. Anybody know what the problem is
and how I would fix it?

Sounds like the vacuum brake booster may be leaking and bad.

Sounds like the brake booster seal where the brake pedal rod goes into it is leaking vacuum into the cab of the truck. Likely that the booster needs replaced.

Unless its loosing enough vacuum to make the pedal hard to press it's just annoying for now.
