The Montero has a automatic transmission cooler AKA radiator that is located in front of the engine by your coolant radiator for the engine they are historically bad oil leaking hoses connecting from the trans cooler to the automatic transmission on cell I have the same problem that occurred the other day and I simply had to add more coolant and let the transmission cool off and everything has been signed you may want to do a filter Swap and fluid flush of the system if it has been many miles since then has been done or if it has ever been done
