Is it an automatic or manual? SOHC engine or DOHC? Also is it front wheel drive or all wheel?

SOHC is single overhead cam. DOHC is dual overhead cam. I'm guessing yours is probably SOHC. If that is correct, the only transmissions you can replace it with are from a Galant with the same setup as yours from the years 1990 to 1992. If it is DOHC, the only one that will work is from a DOHC, front wheel drive 1991 Galant.

I'm thinking you might have the doch... look under your hood at the valve cover, engine top, if it says doch then thats what you have, if it says soch or nothing then you probably have an soch.
