How do I avoid Florida state sales tax

Asked by Mark Feb 07, 2020 at 11:01 AM about the Porsche Boxster

Question type: General

I live in Canada and am planning to buy a used car from an individual/resident
of FLorida, drive it back to Canada and import. Is there a way for me to avoid
paying Florida sales tax? my understanding is there is no way to have this tax
refunded and i don't want to pay twice since I will pay tax when importing into
Canada. I am sourcing the car through the Cargurus website. Thanks

Don't pay it or register it! In the states you pay the home state tax, not the tax where you bought it. Not sure about international transfers though. Check the Florida DMV and Canada's import laws.
