Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2010 OUTBACK has mice nesting above the cabin air filter. Body's in fine shape, no rust. Need to figure out how they're getting in. They're crapping ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!! HELP!!!
***NOT LOOKING FOR MOUSETRAP RECOMMENDATIONS*** Covered!

List Of Questions:
1. Does anyone know where the cabin air exits the vehicle???
2. How do you remove cowl intake vent.
3. Is there an accurate drawing of the vent system in a parts diagram for this car?
4. If it got in while door was open, how long can a mouse survive trapped in a car? It's been several months now of hell!

With rodents you have to get rid of them. Simply sealing up the entrance points, which may not be possible, will not solve the problem. They'll just make new ones. If you keep food in the vehicle, remove it. If you can't do that for some reason put the food in plastic totes with secure lids. If you know where they're nesting in the vehicle remove the nests and put mothballs there. That will drive them away. Try your local Subaru Dealer for a diagram of the climate control system. Hope that helps! Jim

Well I'm not the one riding around with cridders in my car! You have a lovely day! Jim

Dear Jean-ious Jim, "Cridders"? The car was parked for a time due to the pandemic. The "cridders" are gone for the moment and thorough cleaning is in process. I am disabled and none of this is getting easier. How long has your brain been parked? If you want to help, please clean out your brain of it's ridiculous assumptions! Everywhere I turn, there's no one with a fry clue above zero! People walk right past the overpriced .375 gallons of ice cream and pay the exact same stupid price for ONE PINT that isn't even FULL! You must be in that line. Have a great day! NASA must be looking desperately for you! You are going to save one heck of a fortune on your "cidds" edumacation!

Get rid of them? YATHINK! Getting in the swing for this year's NSS Award! ----------------- Food Containers! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cleaning the nests out!: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Holy crap, how do you think of this stuff! YOU are a G E N I U S ! ! ! O M G ! ! ! MOTH BALLS ARE FRIGGING TOXIC TO HUMANS, dinkwad!! Getting rid of mice is a cinch! It's actually easier to run the car with the heat blasting sitting in the sun! DUH! As for my "Local Dealer"... They told me that the car has no cabin exhaust vents, that the air just "leaks" out THROUGH THE BODY PANELS.... And we wonder why we have the highest per capita death rate for COVID! ...OH! That's RIGHT! WE DON'T WONDER! We have dipwad theories for THAT TOO! This country is friggin' T O A S T along with the PLANET!!!!!
