Buying advice Please

Asked by Marci Sep 25, 2018 at 12:19 PM about the Subaru Forester

Question type: General

I need advice. I've had 3 Foresters: I commute from country to city everyday.
2001 never had any issues. It was like a little tank. I loved it until a big tree limb
fell on it.
I fell asleep 1/4 mile from home in my 2007 LL Bean. It saved my life but it
didn't make it.
My 2009 had various mechanical/electrical problems, but I loved it dearly. I
survived a deer running into it while sitting still, & two men hitting it (both at
fault) The second one totaled it. NOW I need to buy a small SUV quickly. His
insurance will only pay for one more week of rental, but I can't afford or find
this model with low miles. I have PTSD driving now, in one of the worst cities in
America for traffic. I need something SAFE that I can load up and get out of
driveway with flooding issues; no one to pick me up if it breaks down.
Is a Ford Escape a good option for me?
I have not had an American made car in 40 years.

A new Forester will be quite safe. Escapes are not as good of a car and the AWD is most definitely as good as the Subaru's. Look up safety ratings at iihs dot org.
