Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Turn the key, get a click, then all lights go out. I have to disconnect/reconnect the
megative battery cable to get the system to reset so the power comes back on. Then I
push start the truck and it runs.

Well, cleaning the cables stopped the ignition from knocking out the power. Now I just have to find the problem keeping the truck from starting.

Is it true that leaking fluids can foul the electrical systems? I have a leak from the cap of the power steering system. I replaced the cap. What should I look for to determine what may have been damaged by the fluid leaks?
