my daughters freestyle just stops running when driving any ideas out there?

ok well my son is a mechanic and he looked at it.nothing obvious. no warning lights. I drove it and it was fine.it only happens once in a while??? just thought maybe someone else has had this with this type of car?it runs great otherwise!scary!!!
