I am guessing you need a tuneup or that a coil is going bad. Is the CEL on?

My ford 150 4×4 5.4 motor run good but sometime it seen like runing on 6 cyc i have to cut the motor off and restart it start runing good again.

mechanic told me this 2008xlt triton has had numerous problems after tune up and complete diagonostic said issue was with sludge buildup needs to take front of engine off to replace springs and bearings and to add bigger oil pump $2500 driving it as is for now dropping into \ neutral at stoplights and revving engine.
