The screaming sounds is the serpentine ("fan") belt slipping from overload when your turn on the A/C. Don't do that because the belt will burn up. So what may be happening is your A/C compressor has seized (locked) up and needs to be looked at and maybe replaced. Or maybe the belt or tensioner is worn out and not keeping enough tension on the belt, so it slips. IF you are lucky, it will just be the belt/tensioner.
