My 2002 corolla with 149,000 miles on it idles very rough after being on the highway, but runs fine at regular operating speed/RPM. The check engine light has come on and shows random misfire and misfire on #1 and #2. I have replaced the spark plugs and coil for both #1 and # 2, but the problem continues. It did stall once immediately after the highway and engine was flooded. Any ideas as to what is going on

Hi, what makes you say the engine was flooded? Did you smell raw gasoline, either in the cabin or from outside the car? Lets go from there..you may have a leaky injector.

It flooded only once after stalling. It smelled of raw gasoline inside the cabin. I was able to get it started after trying for 5 minutes using techniques I have learned. My main train of thought is the check engine codes indicating random misfire and misfires on cylinders 1 & 2

Interesting....fuel does not pass through throttle body, and I'm guessing P0300, P0301 P0302. The 0300 always gets thrown, and is leading me right back to leaking injectors...especially since you already replaced coils and no good. I will look and see if I can find the injector test, it's been quite a while and I don't recall.

That would be great as the car is in great shape otherwise and I don't want to get rid of it just yet.

Last resort....disconnect battery, just the Neg- Black cable will do for about 10 minutes. Then when you re-connect it will definitely run rough for a few minutes, the ECU is re-learning. But that is really unlikely actually, will have nothing to do with smelling gas
