I replaced my fuel pump on my riviera and now my fuel guage doesn't work. What's the problem?

My first thought would be to check the wiring connection. The sending unit in the tank provides the ground for the gauge. More gas equals more ground potential and a full indication. No ground equals a gauge sitting on empty.
