1984 Buick Park Ave rear-end question

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I was looking at replacing my rear-end gears for my '84 Park Ave.  It is a 10 bolt pattern, but I'm not sure what series it is or whether it is an 8.5 or 7.5 (and I'm not sure how to tell).  Would you know what it would be or how I can find out?

Thanks for your time,

Greg Hesterman

Best thing to do is have a dealership decode your VIN. You may also need to find the SPI (service parts index) sticker that will be either in the glove box, or under the trunk lid. This would tell you how the vehicle was originally optioned, but you'll need a dealership to decode the SPI codes.
