Mercedes engines are very sophisticated. If all parts are working properly, they can be the best engines ever built, but if not working properly than it can be a nightmare. Have your mechanic check one of the vacuum lines and that should solve the problem. Mercedes engines are very sophisticated and at the same time they are very sensitive. That's why I got rid of mine. Cars should get you one point to another point, and not be sensitive...My wife does that for me already. Good luck.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor and use the proper spray being cautious not to break the sensor, can lightly use a Q-tip. MAF sensor is in the breather tube that leads to the intake.

Oops, also look for leaks or cracks in the intake tube especially after the sensor... and vacuum lines.
