Why is my 03 dodge ram not shifting in to 3rd

Asked by Guru2Y8QX Feb 23, 2020 at 05:42 AM about the RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 03 dodge ram 115000 miles. It would shift
out of low gear it only had 1st. Read the codes
cam up with the engine speed input changed it.
Now it will shift 1st 2nd but when it goes to shift to
3rd it just slips. Doesnt even try to engage. All I'm
getting is incorrect 3rd gear ratio. Any idea what it
could be

The check engine light is on. It says incorrect 3rd gear ratio on the scanner. Right before it shifts you get a shaky feeling then it slips. I changed fluid and filter all are good with fluid level But same problem. I dont have a code for shift sylinod or anything like that. Could it be the band?

Incorrect gear ratio almost certainly indicates a slipping transmission. This means the input speed and output speed don't match the gear you are in.
