Is the car an 8-valve motor? I'm guessing it is. Ok, have you had any misfiring issues with it once it's been running for a while? Does it hesitate and stutter under acceleration? If so, it could be faulty spark plugs, distributor, or spark plug wires in fact... Don't give it too much revs when it is cold, as that could have a detrimental effect on the engine (engine's cold without much oil being sent into the numerous chambers of the engine). Anyways, check that your MAF (Mass-Air Flow Sensor) isn't blocked or filthy. As it's reading the air entering your engine, having a dirty MAF can cause the car to run rough.
