door speaker replacement

Question type: Car Customization

I replace the original 'Infinity' door speakers with a pair of roadmaster 3-way's.  I get very faint sound from them. I did notice that I had to cut away the old speakers with something that was attached to the speaker magnet which resembles the disk break assembly on the front brakes of a car.  Four wires went into this wierd looking assembly (black, green, gray, red) and a white and blue wire came out on each and was the + and - wires going to the speakers.  I just used the black and red when installing the new speakers.  Did I miss something?

That thing you cut away with the old speaker was the amplifier for that speaker. The Infinity systems on the higher end T&C's have an amp at each speaker. That's why you're not getting much sound.
