What is the best way to fix a Chrysler Sebring convertible top rear windshield?

Asked by ek36 May 21, 2014 at 02:23 PM about the Chrysler Sebring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible top, but the glass came loose out of the top.
The glass is still intact, but not in the top any longer. I called repair shops who told me
I had to get an upholstery shop repaired- there is only one upholstery shop in the area
and they told me that I have to replace the whole top and glass- which will cost about
$600.

I'm wondering if there is another way to do this- or if this is the best route? The
replacing of both the top and the glass seems excessive, considering both are in good
shape- just not together like they need to be. If there is another way- please let me
know.

They are telling you the truth. The glass is ultrsonically sealed to the top, fabric or vinyl, to eliminate leaks. It is more expensive due to the integrated defroster lines as well. Good news is the tops last a long time, this one will probably outlast the vehicle. Btw, pick the fabric top, it is quieter, and will not crack in cold weather like vinyl does eventually.
