Hm. I didn't know the 318ti had a stock turbo... All I know is that they're a bitch to turbo, but if you do it should be fun. Especially in that small of a car. I know supercharging should be a lot easier than a turbo setup. I'd think you'd have to go with a custom turbo setup, even so, I don't think you'd be able to run more than 8psi daily. Talk to Mosselman (I'm pretty sure they have a turbo kit out for that car), ActiveAutowerke, or even Neukin who's done a lot of crazy stuff with his BMW. (e.g. a RB25DET in his 318i!!) If you were to go with a turbo, and want to run higher psi on that engine, i'd personally make some mods to the internals or have it custom tune it with at least a chip or my preference a piggyback system or full computer. it could be worth it for all the piping and such. but personally if i were you and you really wanted to buy that mosselman kit. get it, then sell the turbo, manifold and just the intercooler but keep all the piping and everything else then get a larger intercooler. bigger turbo and a good manifold (this is where Neukin comes in) and build the internals(especially due to the mileage you have) of the engine then you might get AA to make you a custom chip but i would talk to them first they are the experts when it comes to puttin a turbo on a Bimmer. or you could go with a standalone system but those cost money. IMHO when you want power money is involved and if you are serious about acheiving the power you want it should be done right.
