build quality

Question type: General

Are all citroens made as badly as the two i've owned? I traded in the first for the second thinking I'd landed a dud the first time round only to find the second as poor if not worse than the first.

AS long as you are careful with the engine the first 5.000 miles, most of them are allright, I drive an eleven year old berlingo, it was driven in a ditch three times (had to replace some bodywork, but alltight for the rest) , but still runs allright ... only problems we had was to replace the exhaust twice, the rear sidewindow had to be glued again, and the right front ventilation thing is loose. Never broke down ... quite and achievement... but i heard of people as well complaining about the quality so i guess it's very dependable ...

My Xsara Picasso is only 3 years old, bought from new and the first one i had to get rid of, also bought from new. The current one had a pretty big shunt by a pick-up truck with bush guards and was pushed into the car in front about 3 months ago. The whole front suspension feels loose and the problem I face currently is that the citroen dealer closed down meaning the closest place to get help is 400km away. i did a review on carsurvey dot org of both cars and the problems i've had, it's pretty long but if you have time perhaps you could ckeck it out.

i've had a 99 xsara 1.4 for nealy two years now. bought it from a scrap dealership and have had no problems with it at all, it's used and abused daily really to ferry the family about and to get me to and from work, as for build quality i will admit the interior is a bit flimsy to say the least but i suppose you get what you pay for

That's true I guess, you do get what you pay for. It's a bit disappointing because there was so much about the car that I liked but the problems have completely overshadowed all the plus points I had. We live and learn I guess.

I have a 2007 Citroen Picasso, it's brilliant! Have not had any probs yet but it is only 8 months old. Turbo Diesel engine seems solid and has lots of power. Interior looks fragile but has held to so far to all the punishment my wife and 1 year old son can dish out...
