what would cause a 1997 cadillac seville to overheat??

motor is the northstar V8. we changed the thermostat and radiator and it still gets hot. could it be a cracked head or head gasket? wanting to fix it but not if its going to be alot

I would first check the cooling fan and maybe have the system flushed.

Check to see if exhaust is blowing white; water on oil dip stick; air bubbles in radiator coolant whi lem. idling; insure correct thermostat is installed and working.
