ABS and Brake light stay on.

Asked by Svjatogor_1922 Feb 13, 2017 at 06:18 PM about the GMC Sierra 1500HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 and recently had the front/Rear-end gears changed from 3.73 ratio to 4.56 ratio. Afterwards the ABS and brake light started coming on after about 2 miles drive time. It will reset after i turn the ignition off but will do the same thing. Can this be related to the gear ratio being changed?

No because the front and rear wheels still spin the same. On other vehicles if you spin in snow with the rear wheels would not set off the ABS light. I suspect on the brake light you just pressed too far down on the brake pedal when bleeding the brakes. Try with the engine running tapping the brake pedal twice quickly to reset the brake light. The ABS it would be easier to just get the vehicle scanned for ABS codes. This will tell you what the problem is with the ABS. The scanner has to be capable of reading ABS codes.
