!994 Chevy 3500hd HELP?

Asked by Harold Jun 21, 2021 at 02:45 PM about the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

Question type: General

1994 Chevy 3500hd I had 1 signal light and no brake lights. I had someone
install a brake controller about 15 years ago so I figured that was the
problem. I couldn't get any current other than the right signal of the three way
plug and the trailer brake. So I just did away with the ten feet of rolled up
crap that was there. I then had current through the 3 way plug to the trailer
and from the main wires from the front. I then wired everything to the
complete new brake housings while checking lights to make sure they were
right. Ok I have left and right brake lights, backup lights and park lights but
no brake lights. I replaced the signal wiring harness around the steering (that
headlight dimmer switch is a Bitc) still no brake lights so I change the
brakelight switch STILL no brake lights. The 4 way flashers didn't work with
the old signal collar and now lights up but still don't flash I went to look at the
back lights and it looks like the brakes are on. I turned them off and checked
to see if the brake wire had current but didn't get any even when I pushed
the brake pedal down. I also checked to see if any other wires had current
and 2 of them did they are supposed to have. Just for the heck of it I turned
the 4 way flasher button back on and checked the wiring harness wires
again for current and white green purple brown all had current. What is going
on here PLEASE?

Check the turn signal switch. The brake lights are wired through the turn signal switch. Hope that helps! Jim
