2005 Mercury Mariner 2wd transmission problem

Transmission skips from 1st to third and overdrive light flashes shortly after shifting into overdrive

Thanks, I know the light means trouble. I am looking for someone who had similar experience. I believe the second gear clutch pack has failed. I am not sure however. I also don't know if that will cause it to drop out of overdrive, and also make the light flash.
