Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I will be selling my 1999 Chevy suburban,
: before winter
: any ideas on having this issue fixed before selling
or will sell to someone who knows how.  Here is the
concern I have...... (vehicle must warm up
approximately 20 minutes in order to shift gear out
of park, Only during the cold months  of Illinois.   
My location selling is in Peoria, Il  in between st
Louis and Chicago.    Look forward to hearing from
all!!

It needs a transmission. You won't get much for it the way it is but a new transmission could be more than the car is worth. Do the math!

Maybe check the transmission fluid level, it might be low. Add if needed.

I'm assuming you're talking about being able to move the shifter lever out of park. Sounds like the transmission shift brake interlock solenoid is sticking. It's mounted on top of the steering column near the dimmer switch and ignition switch. If that's the problem, fix it before selling it. Hope that helps! Jim

I am very excited just to get responses and will at least check into the advise given. Current mileage is 176,599. Outside has typical rust - inside is very nice I’ll keep you all updated Thanks
