Seatback won't lock

I have a 1999 chevrolet silverado 2 door, and my seat back won't stay in a
locked position. The seats are manual, but cant figure this out any help would
be great!

Sounds like the spring (seat release)on the latching mechanism is broke or the hook part is wore or broken.

Same issue in my 97’. Took the seat apart to find that the teeth in the recliner mechanism were stripped. Every time you hit the gas and get thrown back into the seat the seat goes full recline. Difficult to find a replacement part, guess the best option is either a junk yard or buy a new seat..
