Hey all. I own a chevy 1500 5.7 l v8 vortec . My truck is having some issues. taken to advanced and had the codes ran and i was told that it was a problem with my catalytic converters and plugs/ wires

Asked by Daniel Apr 17, 2015 at 05:41 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Its idleing fine but when i put it in drive or
reverse and sputters, makes a popping
noise and sometimes dies. I removed the
converters and slid on a straight pipe but to
no avail. Changed the plugs myself. My
truck also lost a lot of power. Saw
something similar on here and it ended up
being the fuel pump.

Exactly what codes did you get? A bad cat is a symptom of a problem elsewhere, not a cause ...and there is no DTC code for plug wires. P0300 is random misfire from a million causes
