2008 santa fe issue

Asked by My1miracle_ Dec 20, 2018 at 07:06 PM about the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Out of no where the stick shift gear became stiff.  I was
able to push it to drive position and drove home. A half an
hour later I went to go out and my car wouldn't turn over.
The light and radio went on but not the engine.  Could it be
the transmission  help

Had the same issue on my 08 Santa Fe about three months ago. Needed a new shift cable and the shift mechanism on top of transmission under battery seemed to be seized up so replaced that too. It won’t start because it’s not in park/ not in park enough. If you can get it into park or neutral it should still start up.

I had the same problem 2 years ago..I towed it in to the the dealer. They took it in and opened the center column by the shifter and lubbed gears inside that had become rusty and then it was fine. They charged me 90 dollars.
