My gas meter was showing only two marks so I put in two gallons of gas, no increase of marks. I drove further and put in two more gallons, no increase in marks on the meter. What is going on?

Why isn't my gas meter registering when I put gas in the car?

I have 2 Priuses, the manual says that if you just put in a small amount of gas in your tank when it is low that the gas gauge may not notice it to make the adjustment, you have the extra gas in your tank but the gauge does not show it.

you have an 11.9 gallon tank; the addition of 2 gallons of gas will not register on the fuel meter. add 5 of 6 gallons and you should see a change on the fuel meter

I have found that you need to add a little bit more than 3 gallons for it to register. Drives me nuts.
