Can I somehow unhook the feature when you hold down the unlock button my windows and sunroof opens?

Asked by leegeenelson Oct 14, 2013 at 02:46 PM about the 2008 Lincoln MKX

Question type: General

My 2008 MKX has the feature of the front windows and sunroof opens when you hold the unlock button on the key-fob. Our problem is we live in Minnesota and have come out all to many times and found that feature had done its job sometime when we were away from the vehicle. We know we must have accidently hit the unlock button, but are trying to be careful as it's obviously sensitive. Can we somehow disable that feature so we don't come out this winter and find our MKX filled with snow???

your best bet is to look in your owners manual.

Yes, the feature can be disabled (at your expense). I suspect that there is a problem and Ford/Lincoln will not admit it. My windows and sunroof opened by themselves following a warranty service at the dealer. I took it back and they said they were sure I had pressed the open button and held it. NO WAY. I know where both fobs were and not possible. In searching diligently, I found where the fobs should be reprogrammed if this happens. The service manager wasn't inclined to help. All he would say is I must be pressing the button. I counted and it takes between 6 and 10 seconds for the Global Open to engage. Again, NO WAY, am I holding the button down. Amazingly the service manager said his was doing the same thing and didn't know why. Is he holding the button down?
