Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Dodge Durango with a 3.7 V6 motor I
need to switch out the alternator oh, and the tag on
it telling me the wattage is Rusted away. Does it
matter if I use the 136 or the 160 watt alternator?

Original equipment on your Durango was 136 watts and the optional one was 160 watts. I would just go with the standard 136 watt unit unless you are powering an invertor or lots of trailer lights. And I think it would be wise to buy a new, not a rebuilt one. They start at about $150 for a new one.

Meg. One small correction. Alternators are rated in amps not watts. The parts person would catch that as the numerical rating is what counts. And thank you for the points and the kind reply. Have nice day Sweetheart. (Amps x Volts = Watts.)
