Is the theft system in my car not allowing my car to stay running?

Asked by Jennifer Jan 10, 2017 at 05:10 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The other day I drove my boyfriend to the phone store and decided to see
if the bluetooth OBDII scan tool he got worked.  I paired it to his tablet and
it read the sensors and everything just fine but I started playing with the
menus to see all what the app does that runs the scan tool.  I must have
went into the wrong menu because when we went to leave the car started
up then died right away.  Coincidentally the theft system light on the dash
also blinked a few times then turned off, which before that it would always
stay on.  I was wondering if I somehow cleared or activated some sort of
safety feature with the OBDII tool and if so I would like some suggestions
on how to correct the problem.
