How do I bypass my battery to jump start my 1984 cutlass supreme brougham

You should be able to disconnect the battery cables from the battery and connect your jumper cables directly to them. Wrap a big rag around the positive cable to cable connection so you don't accidently ground it against the car and short something out. Negative cable to cable connection should be done last and doesn't require any special shielding. You should be able to start your car if it is a shorted out battery that is the problem. Work slow and careful and you'll be fine.
