1965 Buick Riv GS timing chain

While removing bolts on timing cover on the bolt
directly below fuel pump I heard a snap when the
bolt broke loose and water poured out that hole
when bolt was removed. Is that a problem or is it
normal for that to happen. Also its been over 20
years since ive worked on a car so before i get to
carried away i seem to remember that the
harmonic bolt is reverse threaded?

Upon further inspection it appeared that the bolt hole was simply in a spot that was within the water jacket of the block. I was careful not to overtighten that bolt during reassembly and have had no issues with water.

The timing chain cover is aluminum that causes the steel bolts to form a type of reaction / rusting, plus the bolts are thin, making them easy to snap off in the aluminum. You have to remove the cover and tap out the bolt. Might have to put a replacement thread in. The last time I put mine together 25 years ago I used never size on the bolts, hope i never have to take them out again.
