my 1967 GTO had a 140 mph speedo. I bought it in 1969 when I got back from Vie Nam. I distinctly remember my dad saying, you got a car that goes 140, you better get some new tires on it!

Long ago, I worked in a performance garage that specialized in Chevrolet & Pontiac, and we had a Chevrolet dealership in the family. I had a couple of GTOs, including a "67 that was highly modified and raced NHRA. Up to 1967, the GTO was a Lemans, even though in "67 it became its own line, and they all had the same dash/gauges. That meant that up through "67, all GTOs came with 120 mph speedometers. There were after market gauges that were made to look similar to Pontiac and could be had in increments of 140, 160 and 200 mph. I believe it was the 1968 model year that GMs muscle cars got more inventive with standard & optional gauges that included speedometers at 140 and 160 mph..... My "67 was 850 hp and ran a trap speed in the mid 160s. That came from the track clocks; I didn't have the speedometer hooked up.
