I have a Pontiac G6 2008 and need another key made. I took it to a hardware store and they said they couldn't make a key. They said the Key must gave a chip in it. I can't afford a high price key.

Several options to have key made you just have to see which best fits your budget. You can have them (any key cutting place) cut a key that will only allow you to open and unlock Steering wheel but it will not turn on vehicle or you can call a locksmith to see if they offer that service in your area and of course the dealer which is always expensive. Hope that helps

Just to add to Marks answer... You can find the key else where like ebay but the chipped key ( transponder key to the pats ) will still need to be programed to the vehicle and your existing key to have them both work. I have a locksmith that does onsite service for the DFW area that's why i suggest that. He only charges me 75.00 to cut and program them.

Go to eBay you can get a key blank for a couple of bucks go to hRdware store have them cut it from your original key. Usually free up to $5. Program yourself as follows: put original key in and turn to acc position. Take key out put new key in a start the car key is prgramed
