I just replaced the engine in my friends 2008 cobalt. Got everything all hooked up all fluids put in. New battery, hoses, belts. Went to start it and nothing. Has plenty of power but in run when trying to start it all lights go out and nothing. Will not turn over at all. Rechecked all the plugs and wires and everything is hooked up right. Do these vehicles have some sort of security system that makes them not start? Any other information would greatly be appreciated.

Check the starter to start with,Then you may need to reprogram the ECM,

Agree with Js. I think its something simple like a loose or dirty connection at the battery or starter end of things. I can't think of a reason why the ECM would need reprogramming. I think they're pretty bullet proof although I could be wrong.
