My 2008 cobalt ...............................................

My 2008 cobalt turns over and for a brief moment cranks then dies   It had been doing this in cooler weather but today I'm having towed..... have been suggested it might be fuel filter, fuel pump or even a realy switch     any suggestions

does it fire I would suggest trying to jump it in order to get it to turnb over without the alternator because it doesn't do anything unless the engine is running
