With a bad starter solenoid it won't crank over. It must take the low amp power from ignition switch, and make a contact for the higher amperage needed to crank engine. The click is the solenoid making contact, those two things lead me to think the solenoid is OK. Ok battery good, solenoid good, next is cables and grounds.
