service tire computer warning will not turn off

Asked by bigredkc Dec 10, 2010 at 08:55 AM about the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had 3 new tires installed and the center told me to drive 15 minutes and the warning would adjust. I have gone 50 miles and it's still on (including the tire insignia on my dash). How do I get this to adjust?

You can try to disconnect/reconnect the negative battery terminal and wait about five minutes. If that doesnt work check the tire pressure for the tire you didnt replace. If it still comes on check the pressure in the spare tire. Some newer cars have sensors in the spare which would cause the light to come on.

Thanks bucaneerz89 for the tip! It's a wonder we don't have sensors in our heads!!!!
